Welcome to COSTA RICA BABY! As you leave immigration and head towards the taxis look for the smiley face flag! That’s your arrival team waiting to whisk you into the heart of San Jose. Let us check you into your hostel, wash the flight away and get ready to meet the team and the rest of your group for a night of San Jose goodness.
Hopefully not too tired after the night before, this morning we will visit our Costa Rica HQ and sit down for a casual chat about what we will be getting up to during your stay. Then we ARE OFF! Arguably the most exciting part of the trip, it’s time to head to Junquillal, roll our sleeves up and starting saving some turtles.
Working with a local award winning initiative we will be doing a variety of tasks that not only focus on the turtle population but also the education of the local community. The beaches of Junquillal are almost pristine and have been the fertile breeding grounds of these turtles for thousands of years. Together we try to reverse the negative effects that humans have created.
From clearing the beaches of obstacles to night patrols protecting mothers and their baby turtles, every task you complete goes towards the overall goal of improving the lives and population of Costa Rica’s sea turtles.
Your group will be split up and work on specific areas in and around the beach, the hatchery and the turtle centre. It’s not easy work and we expect only the best volunteers to be working on such an exclusive project.
On your final day at this amazing project you would have achieved so much! Hands should be blistered and eyes will be widened! Let’s go out with a BANG! and make every day count. After it all we shall we have a little farewell party.
After all that hard graft, it’s time to enjoy the rest of your time and discover the best Costa Rica has to offer. We leave the warm climate of the beach and head up the mountain range of Monteverde famous for its organic coffee, Xtreme sports and stunning scenery…..we get to do it all!!!
Hold on to your stomachs! It’s time to start zipping through the jungle attached to nothing but wires! BUT DO NOT WORRY the EXTREMEly professional and safety conscious team will look after you every step (or zip!) of the way. In the afternoon you will need to chill and recover so enjoy the best this mountain town has to offer.
Quite possibly one of the most thrilling journeys is from Monteverde to La Fortuna. Driving down the winding roads to a stunning lake and jumping in a private speed boat, we then jet off pass an active volcano with the views you’d expect to see in the latest ‘Jurassic Park’ movie. Once we arrive prepare to tour this little touristy gem.
On our second day here we go back to nature and discover how the indigenous population and their ancient knowledge of the land work together to create harmony. Here everyone will plant a tree and help support the lush paradise that we have learned to love and respect.
“Let’s go to the beach, each let’s go get away!” We head to the fancy port city of Manuel Antonio and enjoy our final few days on private yachts, posh marinas and pool side cocktails.
Manuel Antonio’s main attraction is the national park. Home to wild sloth, monkeys and pristine white sandy beaches that YES we will be chilling on. What better way to start to wind down the trip than surrounded by Costa Rica and its natural wonders at its best!
All good things must come to an end. Let’s head back to where it all began and spend the night back in San Jose. The next morning you can say your goodbyes to those who will have changed you forever.
